Seven youths arrested for holding motorcycle races for money bets

Seven youths who were engaged in motorcycle races by betting money have been arrested by the Panadura North Police. The police further state that the arrested youths are residents of Moratuwa, Egoda Uyana, and Panadura areas, aged 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22.

This raid was carried out based on information received from residents that motorcycle races were being held at night along the Old Galle Road, causing nuisance to the public by emitting excessive noise. Accordingly, during an operation conducted using roadblocks at Jubilee Junction and surrounding areas on the Old Galle Road in Panadura, the police succeeded in arresting seven youths (7) along with four motorcycles (4).

Police investigations revealed that the silencers of the arrested motorcycles had been cut and modified, and numbers had been affixed to them for identification during races. The arrested suspects were scheduled to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate's Court.
