Mattakkuliye 'Kudu Roshan', who is considered a large-scale drug trafficker and a leader of a network that rents firearms to organized crime gang members, was arrested yesterday (24) by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). According to the Criminal Investigation Department, information has been revealed that he is connected to several organized crimes.
When a team of Criminal Investigation Department officers went to 'Kudu Roshan's' house in Mattakkuliya to arrest him, the suspect was hiding inside the house. As he refused to open the door, officers broke down the door, entered, and arrested the suspect. According to the police, the arrested 'Kudu Roshan' is a 38-year-old man.
Police officers also found a foreign firearm and several rounds of ammunition buried and hidden in the ground near his house. Reportedly, the firearm was manufactured in Abu Dhabi. Police suspect that before his arrest, the suspect may have disposed of the drugs in his possession by flushing them down the toilet in the house's bathroom.
Police investigations have further revealed that 'Kudu Roshan's' wife was also involved in large-scale drug trafficking and is currently in remand custody.
Based on information received by the Criminal Investigation Department that 'Kudu Roshan' was involved in organized crimes, the secret police conducted extensive investigations. Following these investigations, his house was raided, and police state that numerous CCTV cameras were installed around the house.
After the arrested suspect is produced before the court, he is expected to be granted a seven-day detention order. Under the instructions of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Asanga Karawita, who is in charge of the Criminal Investigation and Financial Crimes Division, a team of officers led by Senior Superintendent of Police Shani Abeysekera, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, is conducting further investigations into the incident.
