A delegation of high-level representatives from the Communist Party of China arrived in Sri Lanka today (23) February for an official visit to the island.
This delegation, led by Mr. Wang Junzheng, a member of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Party Secretary of the Xizang Autonomous Region, reportedly includes 11 members.
They arrived at Katunayake Airport this morning around 9:45 AM on a SriLankan Airlines flight.
The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr. Anura Karunathilaka, were present at the airport to welcome this diplomatic delegation.
This delegation, which will remain on the island from today until the 25th, is undertaking this visit with the aim of further expanding bilateral relations between China and Sri Lanka.
Political sources state that this delegation is scheduled to meet and hold discussions with the President during their visit.
Attention will also be focused on fulfilling the country's urgent needs after the recent cyclone disaster, as well as on potential aid that can be obtained from China in the future.
