Brother's Body Recovered from Malwathu Oya; Sister Still Missing

 The body of the missing male child, whose mother came to Anuradhapura from the Moratuwa area and attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Malwathu Oya with her two children, has been found in the Mihindupura area of Anuradhapura.

The Anuradhapura Divisional Police Life Saving Unit stated that the child's body was recovered after being trapped in a bank of the Malwathu Oya.

The deceased has been identified as an 8-year-old boy named Thishuka Meeriyagalla.

However, search operations are still underway to find the four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Sithulya Meeriyagalla, who went missing in the incident.

Several police life-saving teams are making strenuous efforts to find her, using boats and diving into the water.

About five days ago, the mother came to Anuradhapura with her two children and caused this incident by jumping into the Malwathu Oya near the Mihindupura Bridge on Bandaranaike Mawatha.
