According to the latest weather forecast issued by the Department of Meteorology for tomorrow (19th), intermittent rain is expected in the Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts.
The department specifically states that some places in these areas could experience fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm.
Furthermore, several rain showers may occur in the Northern and North Western provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura district. In other parts of the island, scattered rain or thundershowers are possible after 1:00 PM.
Meanwhile, predictions indicate that fairly strong winds, gusting up to about 40 kmph, may occur intermittently across the eastern slopes of the Central hills, the Northern, North Central, and North Western provinces, including the Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.
The Department of Meteorology also points out that misty conditions can be expected in some places during the morning hours in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Considering the weather conditions in the sea areas, the sea belt extending from Colombo to Batticaloa via Puttalam, Kankasanthurai, and Trincomalee may be rough at times, with a risk of wind speeds increasing up to 50 kmph.
However, authorities urge the public to remain vigilant to minimize risks from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
