The three suspects arrested in connection with setting fire to and killing a wild elephant in the Seepukulam area have been remanded until the 24th, as per the order of the Anuradhapura Magistrate.

The wild elephant, subjected to such inhumane cruelty, later died, and a video depicting the torture of the elephant went viral on social media.

Three individuals, aged 42, 48, and 50, all residents of the Seepukulam area, have been arrested by Mihintale Police on suspicion of involvement in this incident.

It is reported that the post-mortem examination confirmed the elephant's death was caused by a diseased condition in its kidneys and liver, combined with the trauma and fear induced by the burning.
