Due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, power outages have been reported in numerous areas across the island, leading to an unusually high volume of calls to the Ceylon Electricity Board's call centers as a large number of consumers attempt to report them.
Given this situation, there may be some delay in responding to phone calls. Therefore, the Electricity Board requests consumers to use alternative digital services to report power outages.Accordingly, instead of waiting to connect with a customer service officer, consumers can submit their complaints more quickly by using the CEBCare Mobile App, the CEBCare website, or by sending an SMS to 1987. The Board also points out that facilities have been provided to report outage information via the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.
A statement issued by the media unit of the Ceylon Electricity Board indicates that the Electricity Board's maintenance teams are currently working as quickly as possible to restore power. The Electricity Board further emphasizes its appreciation for the cooperation shown by consumers during this emergency weather disaster.
