Amid renewed debate over “Chichi” Rajapaksa’s communications satellite, SupremeSAT has confirmed that its satellite remains in orbit at 87.5° East — exactly where it was placed upon launch 13 years ago.
In a statement, the company said it welcomed the “long-awaited public acknowledgment” that the satellite was successfully launched and that no government funds were used for the project.
The company criticized ongoing speculation about its private accounts, calling such discussions “inappropriate and misleading” when conducted without its involvement. “This is especially true,” the statement read, “when the commentary comes from those without the technical knowledge or operational insight needed to assess a complex, globally integrated business such as ours.”
SupremeSAT stressed that it operates under stringent contractual, regulatory, and technical obligations in multiple jurisdictions, and that it “meets and exceeds internationally recognised standards in performance, compliance, and transparency,” in line with other leading global satellite operators.
Baseless Claim?
“While we remain unaffected by baseless claims, we strongly object to the continued misrepresentation of our work,” the company added. “We will remain focused on delivering our projects, honoring our commitments, and maintaining our reputation as a trusted, world-class operator in the space sector.”
