Shocking Allegations and Arrest

Haider Ali, once hailed as Pakistan’s next cricket superstar, has been arrested by Greater Manchester Police in connection with an alleged rape that reportedly took place on July 23 during the Pakistan A team’s tour of England. The 24-year-old batsman now faces serious legal trouble as the investigation continues.

PCB’s Swift Response: Provisional Suspension

In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provisionally suspended Ali. The board confirmed the ongoing criminal investigation and assured that Ali would receive full legal support throughout the process. The PCB stated,

"The PCB is aware of an ongoing criminal investigation by Greater Manchester Police involving cricketer Haider Ali. The investigation relates to an incident that allegedly took place during Pakistan Shaheens's recent tour of England."

Career Highlights and Controversies

Born on October 2, 2000, in Attock, Punjab, Haider Ali is known for his aggressive middle-order batting. Since making his T20I debut against England in 2020, he has played 35 T20Is, scoring over 500 runs with three fifties. Nevertheless, he made a strong comeback as vice-captain of the Pakistan Shaheens in 2021 and was part of Pakistan’s squad for Asia Cup 2022 and the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup, where Pakistan finished runners-up.

Uncertain Future

With these serious allegations casting a shadow over his career, Haider Ali’s future in cricket remains uncertain as investigations proceed. Fans and the cricketing community now await the outcome of this disturbing case.
