The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has turned up the heat on former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne. Court officials showed up at his Malabe residence, put up a written proclamation on the property, and even announced it through a loudspeaker, summoning him to appear before court on August 29.
The move came after the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption told the court that the former minister has been evading proceedings. In response, Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayathunga ordered a public proclamation to make sure the message reached him, and perhaps the whole neighborhood too.
For observers, the episode reads less like a routine legal step and more like political theatre. A once-powerful minister now finds his name pinned to the gates of his own home, with the court effectively saying “enough is enough.”
The big question is whether Rajitha will finally make an appearance on August 29 or whether this high-profile hide-and-seek saga still has more twists waiting to unfold.
