Accidental vodka in Celsius drinks causes shock in the US

Some Americans trying to get an energy boost last week ended up getting accidentally drunk — all thanks to a massive factory blunder involving Celsius energy drinks.

Cans of the popular Celsius Blue Razz energy drink were mistakenly filled with vodka by High Noon, a vodka seltzer company. This happened after a packaging supplier sent them the wrong empty cans — Celsius-branded ones — which they then filled, sealed, and shipped out with no idea what had happened.

Now, the US Food and Drug Administration has issued a public recall warning and named the affected lots. The mistake was caught only after customers and suppliers began questioning the strange taste.

This isn’t some secret product launch or limited-edition alcoholic Celsius. It was a full-on mess-up, and the two companies involved are recalling thousands of cans sold in states like Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Some High Noon Beach Pack cans are also being recalled from the same production line.

No health issues have been reported yet, but the USFDA is warning consumers not to drink the product and to check the codes at the bottom of their cans.

While Sri Lanka hasn’t imported this batch, the incident is going viral as a bizarre reminder that even in highly regulated industries, serious mix-ups can happen.

Fitness drink fans, take note: that pre-gym energy drink could have something extra in it if you don’t read the label. In this case, it wasn’t B vitamins — it was vodka.

If your cousin brings Celsius from the U.S., check the bottom of the can before you crack it open.
