Park your car in Makumbura and come to Colombo by bus from today
Park and Ride - City bus service starts today. This is a pilot project to reduce traffic congestion in the Colombo suburbs at the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Center. The first phase of the project is scheduled to commence today using 25 buses. State Minister of Vehicle Regulation, Bus Transport Services, Railways and Motor Industries Dilum Amunugama stated that all facilities including Wi-Fi had been provided in these buses. It is reported that under the first phase, the bus service from Makumbura to Pettah will be operational for passengers travelling to work in offices around Colombo. Chairman of the Ceylon Transport Board Kingsley Ranawaka said, "This city bus service from Makumbura to Pettah and from Pettah to Makumbura will start today on Route 138 and Battaramulla. The service will be based on the concept of Park And Ride. We hope to take them to their workplaces more efficiently, with this bus plying every 10 minutes. The fare is twice the standard fare. "
