A COPE investigation into the Rajagiriya building given to Duminda

Sabitha‍ Leasing a private building to the Ministry of Agriculture at the cost of over Rs. Two hundred fifty million from the government fund, contrary to the Government Procurement Code during the previous government, The Committee on Public Accounts (COPE) has decided to hold a formal inquiry into the incident. The Committee also decided that a policy decision should be taken regarding the ability of public servants to present their views on Cabinet decisions on problematic issues. The report of the special audit on the lease of a private building for the Ministry of Agriculture was especially discussed at the Committee on Public Accounts. Sumedha Perera, Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, said that an investigation is being carried out at the Ministry level into renting a private building for the Ministry of Agriculture at the cost of over Rs. It was revealed at the meeting that a private building for the Ministry of Agriculture had been obtained on a rent basis as per a decision taken by the Cabinet during the last government period. The Committee drew attention to the need to formulate a proper system to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and the need to formulate new rules and policies in this regard. Minister Udaya Gammanpila, State Ministers Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Duminda Dissanayake, Dr Sudarshani Fernandopulle, Members of Parliament DYG Ratnasekera, Dr Upul Galappaththi, Weerasumana Weerasinghe, Tissa Attanayake, Prof. Ranjith Bandara, Buddhika Pathirana, Mr and Mrs Sridharan and several government officials were also present.
