Ranil will not come to Parliament from the national list

The UNP, which suffered a major defeat in the general election this time, is claiming one seat on the national list according to its national vote share.
Many believe that the seat will be an opportunity for former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to enter Parliament.

However, after the party meeting held at Sirikotha this evening (7), a party representative who participated in the meeting responded to a TV query stating that Ranil Wickremesinghe would not be contesting for the National List seat.
“He has no intention of going to Parliament in any other way after losing an election. He will not do that. No such thing was talked about today, ”he said.

It has not yet been announced who will be appointed to the UNP National List.

John Amaratunga's name was listed as number one on the list submitted to the Election Commission before the election.
