Digs pit behind house to search for pot of gems of which great grandmother told in a dream according to instructions of ouija board

Two brothers in law who said that they tried to recover treasure by digging behind the house with the aid of the 'deva asna' (ouija board which writes messages on its own) were taken into custody in Mahingamuwa area, Welimilla, Bandaragama by Bandaragama police. Police have taken into custody the ouija board, pick axes, mammoties as well as several tools to dig the ground. 

According to a tip off received by western province intelligence officers and intelligence officers of
of the special unit affiliated to Bandaragama police, a raid was launched under directions of Mr. Lasantha Buddhika, inspector of police  and officer in charge of Bandaragama police, a police officer said. Police say that a short while has elapsed after the suspects had come out after they had been digging the treasure pit. 

The suspect taken into custody has told the house owner about an year back that there is a pot full of gems beyond value behind the house as told to him in a dream by a great grandmother and had given instructions to try to get it and that an attempt was made to get the said treasure for about a period of one year and for that purpose to make use of a 'deva asna'; a ouija board, police said it was revealed so as was told them. 

The suspect further said that a 'deva asna' or ouija board was bought at an exorbitant price of Rs. five thousand from a shop in Bandaragama and he had tried to secure instructions by invoking the dead great grandmother by lighting incense to the deva asna but had failed and so did his wife. However when services of his daughter was tried for the same purpose by making her place her hand on the 'deva asna' the instructions conveyed began to write voluntarily and that on those instructions he had tried his hand to get the treasure, the suspect had told police. 

Subsequently, the suspect further mentioned that on instructions given by the ouija board, he had employed services of a trusted person .. his wife's brother, the police officer said. A pit, six by six and about thirteen feet deep large pit had been dug and another pit in the shape of a rhombus was dug where two persons could go forward fifteen feet and a large pit where two persons could stand with ease downwards was dug and power supply was secured to the 'donawa' with the aid of a wire connected from the kitchen in the house, police said. 

When asked as to why instructions were not given for them to be taken into custody... the suspect has responded with a smile, the police officer further said. Police say that the main suspect the house owner and the other suspect, his brother in law is a resident of Kahatuduwa, Weniwelkola and that both of them were of the ages between 40 - 50 years, police say. 

The suspects are to be produced before court. On instructions of deputy inspector general of police in charge of Kalutata district, Vijitha Guneratna, police superintendent of police in charge of Panadura division, Sanjaya Irasingha, and assistant superintendent of police, Nishantha Senaratna; the raid was conducted by inspector of police, Mr. Lasantha Buddhika, with police constables Balasuriya and Darshana including officers affiliated to western province intelligence division and affiliated to police special task force.
