Younger brother Prabhakaran for the general election ... instead of Murali
Outstanding cricketer Mutthaiah Muralitharan has expressed his ideas to the media that his brother Mutthaiah Prabhakaran would be vying for an Mp seat at forthcoming general election. He has said that Murali's brother would be handing over nominations from Nuwaraeliya district under Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna. Though it was broadcast across social media that he would be competing for the general election, he says that it
is not true and that he exchanged the invitation he received with his younger brother and thus gave an opportunity for him. He further said that both he and his brother would be taking the lead to offer some service to the country and that his brother is ready to contest on behalf of the estate workers.
Mutthiah Muralitharan participated in Viyathmaga programmes during last presidential elections and thus dedicated himself to strengthen the hands of Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Subsequently after Gotabhaya assumed presidentship, there was an invitation to bestow the position of governor of the North to Muralitharan. However he rejected it and was even backward in saying so.
Muralitharan constantly has the necessity of travelling to India with his wife and she is functions as the director of a network of hospitals in India. Muralitharan's father happens to be a well-known businessman in Kundasale. Though Muralitharan's brother, Mutthaiah Muralitharan who is appearing for the election is not that much of a known character, he appears for the election by flaunting Muralitharan's name political sources say that he has the potential of grabbing a bigger number of votes of even those who do not cast their vote to the incumbent government.
