Mother who rode motorbike to take medicine for son's eye ... struck by tipper and dies while son sustains injuries
A tipper and motorbike had collided in Habarakada, Athurugiriya and the woman travelling on the motorbike had died on the spot from the accident while a six year old schoolboy having sustained injuries was admitted to Homagama basic hospital.

The deceased was on her way to Homagama basic hospital to take treatment for her six year old child and close to Habarakada junction she had parked the motorbike and was getting ready to drop into a shop when a tipper loaded with granite which was coming in the opposite direction had struck the motorbike resulting in this accident, it was revealed at preliminary investigations, police say. At the moment of the said accident, the deceased has seen the tipper coming in front and hastened to push back the six year old child near her. If not, the child too may have faced serious damage, it is understood.

The schoolboy who sustained injuries from the accident has left the hospital, hospital sources say.
