'Neelakobeiya' injured by an attack of a crow ... decides to live in the house of lady who came for its support

It was captured on camera of a lady who brought with her a baby 'neelakobeiya' on the Sri Pada pilgrimage which bird she rears as one of her children. She has come across this small neelakobeiya fallen by the side of a main road having been wounded by an attack of a crow.

She is Mrs. Ajantha Gamage by name and is resident of Katunayaka. She has come with members of
her family and comrades last 21st on the Sri Pada pilgrimage across the Hatton route. On this occasion the neelakobeiya happened to rest on the shoulder of Mrs. Ajantha Gamage without any fear as such and this sight caught the attention of many a person who had come on this pilgrimage.

When we questioned Mrs. Ajantha Gamage about this, what she said was that about 8 months back, as the said neelakobeiya was pecked by crows and being so injured had fallen on a vehicle. Subsequently the bird was treated by a veterinary surgeon and was set free after that. However the bird has even after that has kept remaining in the house without leaving her or the family members. She further said that whenever she would go somewhere with family members ... neelakobeiya too used to come with her and that the bird was taken with them to locations such as Nuwaraeliya and Matale.

She further mentioned that the bird used to consume whatever she would and that it shows a special liking for tomatoes and that members of her family too shows great kindness to this bird; but when she shows some strong affection towards a member of her family ... the bird would lose its temper.  She finally said that nobody has any right to destroy life or harass and that it is her hope to look after this neelakobeiya till it breathes its last.
