5 individuals connected to police constable murder ... arrested

Officer in charge of Kelaniya division, Mr.Linton Silva of crime investigation unit and a team of policemen were successful in arresting the paramour of constable cum driver under charges of having conspired and for aiding and abetting to murder police constable - driver Jayantha Rajapaksa of Kadawatha police at a certain point in Kiribathgoda.

The body of the constable who was kidnapped and brutally murdered after being attacked with sharp

instruments was found last 21st hidden in a shrubbery forest at Bulugoda, Werahera, Pannala. The two suspects known by the nicknames Buntiya and Sudda and Manju who gave support to hide the dead body were taken into custody last 20th by Kelaniya division crime investigation unit. The three-wheel and two sharp instruments, several mobile phones were taken into possession of police and police say that Bunty is the son of illicit wife of the constable who was killed and that Sudda is the son of the elder brother of the illicit wife. Police further say that the 25 year old mother of one child who was arrested together with the 47 year old woman who carried on this illicit affair happens to be the wife of Manju who aided and abetted in hiding the corpse. After all three suspects were produced before Mahara court, detention orders were secured yesterday until 23rd. The three suspects and the two female suspects were expected to be produced before Mahara magistrate court by Kiribathgoda police yesterday (23).

Jayantha Rajapaksa who was subjected to murder is someone aged 37 years living in Weeraketiya and a father of two children and after being abducted on 17th morning ... police have commenced investigations to arrest two other suspects in connection with the killing.

Further investigations are being carried out by officer in charge of Kelaniya division crime investigation unit, Linton de Silva, and sergeants Dharmasiri, Abeynayaka, Jayasundera; constables Hennanayaka and Sarath together with officer in charge of crime investigation unit of Kiribathgoda police, inspector of police, Sandanuwan, sub inspector of Peliyagoda police, Radalage are conducting further investigations under supervision of superintendent of police in charge of Kelaniya division, Roshan Dias, Kelaniya assistant superintendent of police, Chandana Liyanage senior deputy inspector general of police in charge of western province, Deshabandu Tennakoon and Kelaniya division crime investigation unit officer in charge, inspector of police, Linton de Silva.
