This injury has resulted from a machette blow aimed by a certain person who wanted to chase a dog which had come to prey on fowls in the yard. The machette had remained stuck in the dog's face and it had sustained serious injury and after a surgery of about one and a half hours the doctors were able to rescue the life of the dog.
The blow of the machette aimed at this dog which is reared as a pet in a house in Kuliyapitiya had struck the dog's face right in the middle and has gone deep as far as three inches and was stuck in the face and as there is no veterinary treatment centre at Kuliyapitiya, the owner of the said dog was taken to a private animal treatment situated at Kuliyapitiya town. After a surgery performed by veterinary surgeon of the medical centre, Mr. Charith Dampage for about one hour, it was possible to remove the machette stuck in the dog's face and thus save the life of the dog. Dr. Dampage mentioned that with that blow serious damage was done to the dog's snout region and some damage was caused to its brain as well. Dr. Dampage finally remarked that though the dog regained consciousness after the surgery ... because of the damage done to the brain, the condition of the dog is in a somewhat risky position.
