An incident is reported from Degaldoruwa hamlet in Gunnepana, Kandy where a family of Sweden has legally taken a child for adoption born in this country and when having come on a tour to Sri Lanka after forty five years ... this daughter has managed to find her mother.

This daughter identified as W.G. Wimali was taken away to Sweden in the year 1975 at her tender
age of one and a half years after which she was given the name "Anna Marguerita Rolan". Later the girl has had her education there and had engaged in the field of beauty culture.

The sole objective of Mrs. Anna Marguerita Rolan who for the first time came here on a tour was to find her parents. According to her birth certificate she has come to Kandy on this tour and lodged in a hotel with the intention of searching for information to trace whereabouts of her parents. Thus, with this motive at heart, she she informed of her intense desire to Mr. Vijitha Fonseka, the hotel manager. Later Mr. Vijitha Fonseka contacted Mr. Deepthi Suriyadasa, a provincial council member of Kundasale known to him and subsequently, contact was made with provincial council member who represents Degaldoruwa area.

This crowd who then went in search of her parents according o details of the birth certificate, they could locate her 85 year old mother living at No. 35, Degoldoruwa, Gunnepana. Thus, W.G. Wimali or Mrs.  Anna Marguerita Rolan was given the opportunity of getting to know her genuine mother and Mrs. Anna who came from the hotel where she was lodging was introduced to her mother which actually turned out to be a moment of sheer happiness and true affection. However though she located her mother ... her father had been suffering from paralysis from about 40 years back and had passed away.

After meeting her mother, this is what Wimali or Mrs. Anna Marguerita Rolan told us: "I was exceedingly ambitious to come on a tour to Sri Lanka where I was born with the idea of finding my mother. When I knew that my dream had come true ... I was elated to see my mother; but I never thought that I would meet my mother again. Today I enjoyed a fantastic happiness. I'll help mother to the best of my ability".

After coming across her younger daughter after forty five years, this is how Mrs. W.P. Lilawathi expressed her happiness: "I can't even believe that I would be able to see my youngest sister. It was in 1975 that daughter was taken for adoption to a white-skinned lady and gentleman. I have nine daughters and sons. At that time my husband was suffering from paralysis and because of financial difficulties daughter was given for Rs. five hundred.

I am so happy about my younger daughter who is among the living. I never dreamt that I would be able to set my eyes on Wimali daughter", that innocent mother said by wiping tears pouring down her cheeks. W.G. Wimali or in other words Mrs. Anna Marguerita Rolan came in search of her mother in the company of her husband Mr. Craft, a Swedish civil engineer by profession.
