Has Corona invaded Sri Lanka?

Foreign news reports say that the corona virus which keeps spreading in Wuhan in China has already spread to 14 countries around the globe other than China. President of China, Xi Jinping has sent out an alert that this fateful virus is swiftly spreading. By today, January 26th, 56 lives have
been lost because of the virus while the number of those infected has risen to 2009.  

Two patients were admitted day before yesterday (24) and yesterday (25) to the national institute of infectious diseases at IDH, Colombo. However as one patient who was admitted was confirmed as not being infected by that virus and has gone away, specialist consultant Mr. Ananda Wijewickrema has informed. No conclusion has been still notified about the other patient. Those so admitted have been a Chinese female and a Sri Lankan female medical student who studied at Wuhan. 

About 85 Sri Lankan students of Hubei area which was considered as not being suitable to live because of the virus and most of them have returned to Sri Lanka before Wuhan city was closed. The Sri Lankan consulate office in Beijing has estimated that by January 25th, 30 Sri Lankans had been in Hubei. President Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has given instructions to ministry of foreign affairs to make arrangements to get down those Sri Lankan students immediately  at government's expense. It is understood that as there is no direct air flights from Sri Lankan airways to Wuhan in China, a special flight has to be sent there. The announcement further states that the Sri Lankan consulate in Beijing city are constantly focusing attention on citizens in the province of Wuhan. 

Private transport in Wuhan province in China has been suspended and previously only common transport was prohibited. Now the entire city takes on a desolated look, it is reported. In this manner, about 18 cities in China have been closed. It is reported that the population cornered within those cities number about 56 million. America and Britain are in the meantime are taking steps to rescue their citizens who are stuck in Wuhan and Hubei cities. 

The corona could be identified by symptoms such as fever, coughing, cold, difficulty in breathing, pain in the throat and aches in the body ... it is difficult to diagnose as to the sickness that has affected the patient without a proper examination because such symptoms are observed in other sicknesses as well, it was said. It is understood that, if a person has been infected by the virus, a serious condition could result in contacting pneumonia and malfunctioning of kidneys ... with a tendency towards death. 

Health authorities have informed that in order to prevent this risk of the disease, steps such as using soap in the case of washing hands or disinfectants; to use a handkerchief or tissue in instances of coughing or sneezing and to dispose those after use in a garbage bin. In the same way, it was informed to refrain from taking meals from outside as much as possible and to consume meat or eggs well-cooked.
