Unofficial reports about 'firsts' at advanced level exam

The first position in the Biology stream (new syllabus) in the 2019 general certificate of education examination this time has been achieved by Sachini Wijeywardena of Colombo Visakha Vidyalaya while the first position in the Commerce stream (new syllabus) has been achieved by Teshani Nimhara of Colombo Bishop's
College.

The examinations department has taken steps not to release information about those who secured first position at advanced level examination in the island to the media according to the government's decision. However, it was indicated in information directed to schools as to the position achieved in the island and district for the purpose of getting an idea as the access to university. 

As news correspondents were able to get at this data across schools, unofficial information has been revealed to the media about several 'firsts' of the advanced level. As such, it was revealed that Tharusha Shihan Fonseka of Colombo Ananda College has become first in the Maths section of the advanced level new syllabus

this time. Under the old syllabus, A. Darshana Isurusiri Sampath of Pinnawala National School has secured position one in the Maths division. 

Two 'firsts' have been reported at the advanced level examination in the island from Gampaha Bandaranaika Vidyalaya. Vinura Osada Gallage secures first position in the island under new syllabus of Engineering Technology stream while Nipuna Viraj Hettiarachchi achieved first place in the island from Commerce stream under the old syllabus. As reported so far, the first place in the Commerce stream under the old stream has been clinched Niroshan Sandaruwan of Baddegama Christ Church College.
