Mahinda takes up duties as prime minister -- secretary to premier .. Gamini Senerath
The new prime minister Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed duties this afternoon at prime minister's office and Mr. Gamini Senerath has been appointed as the new secretary of prime minister.
He has functioned as additional secretary of president and chief of staff from the year 2005 to the
year 2015 and was the president's additional secretary during the period when Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa held the position of prime minister.

Gamini Sedara Senarath who studied for his preliminary degree at Kelaniya university subsequently joined Sri Lanka administrative service in the year 1984. Initially he was an assistant provincial secretary and later was a controller of emigration and immigration and consequently the commissioner of motor traffic.Apart from that, he has held positions of chairman at Sri Lanka insurance corporation, Litro gas company and People's Bank as well.
