Here are the 8 cabinet ministers not declaring their assets against whom complaints are lodged with bribery commission!
Transparency International Sri Lanka has lodged a complaint with commission to investigate bribery or corruption against 8 cabinet ministers who have not declared assets belonging to them.
Transparency international Sri Lanka has forwarded their complaint yesterday (10) by referring to information quoted in the application for the right to information inferring that by 20th August, 2019 8 cabinet ministers have failed to submit declaration of assets for 2018/19.
According to Part 4 (a) (11) in the law of declaration of assets and liabilities, all cabinet ministers are

Among those who presented their declaration of assets are ministers Navin Dissanayaka, Harin Fernando, Mano Ganeshan, M.H.A. Haleem, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Ravi Karunanayaka, Gayan Karunathilleka and Sajith Premadasa. What Transparency International Sri Lanka stated was that failure to declare assets the person concerned is subjected to a fine not exceeding Rs. 1,000 and/or a jail term of one year.
After forwarding the complaint, what administrative director of Transparency International Sri Lanka, Mr. Asoka Obeysekera said was that some members of parliament have forwarded their declaration of assets by even going beyond their legal requirements and attention should be focused on those who conduct themselves outside their responsibilities.
Mr. Obeysekera further mentioned that Transparency International Sri Lanka has requested information of a similar nature from President's Secretariat as well as the Speaker's office for the purpose of identifying state and deputy ministers outside the cabinet who have evaded declaring their statement of assets and that once that information is secured, due action will be taken. Transparency International Sri Lanka has requested from Bribery and Corruption Investigation Commission that under the law of assets and liabilities, being the only institution to take action by exercising its powers and to confirm when these complaints are being investigated and to file a legal case as is necessary.
