it was possible to arrest him.
The person running the boutique concerned is one Gammedde Chaminda Galaboda alias Utiya, police reports. The suspect is expected to be produced before court.
Raththanadeniye Medhananda thero who made a comment about the incident when this video was circulating has informed: "Whatever offence those two small samaneras committed, as a layman he had no right to make such an outrageous attack. After a child is ordained, even the father or mother has no right to beat the ordained child even with the motive of putting him on the right track. Lord Buddha has pointed out not to underestimate a serpent, fire, a prince or a samanera.
Rerukane Chandawimala thero has pointed out from an article written to 'Riviresa' that by assaulting a thero, disgracing or causing loss would result in many a negative result not only in the next birth but this life too as a grave sin and that it is an exceedingly strong sin more than killing pigs, fowls, goats. It then is similar to a sin akin to assaulting the parents. Assaulting a bhikshu is second only to 'aanantharya akusala karma'. As depicted by 'Bhikkusammapihi agaarawe kathe sanghe agaravo katho hothi', even humiliating one bhikshu belonging to sangha amounts to disgracing the entire sangha. Insulting, discrediting means insulting the entire sangha community. Therefore its sin is serious. Even if it not so ... this is child molestation. Even those who have no regard for sin or merit and are not Buddhists can oppose this. The video relevant to the incident, from below
