Though Nelum Kuluna is to be opened next month ... there is no plan!
Nelum Kuluna which colours Colombo and is supposed to be a transmission station and a place of tourist attraction and is expected to be opened next September. Co-ordinating advisor and team leader of Nelum Kuluna project, professor Samitha Manawadu expressing ideas about the project revealed that there is no future development plan about Nelum Kuluna project.
This project which was to be completed in March 2015 was finished over 4 years and as a result it
was finished with a loss of Rs. 5,475 to the government and the government in order to cover that loss or about earning a proper profit after Nelum Kuluna is opened has not shown interest. If at all to make this a place of profit in the future ... his idea is that certain investments should be carried out; but that so far nobody has taken any responsibility to look into it.

This construction which is of a height of 350 metres comprises of telecommunication towers and television broadcasting. Sri Lanka regulatory commission (SLTRC), China National Electronics Import and Export Corporation (CEIEC) and ALIT have signed these agreements in the year 2012. The question arose at the beginning itself as with what motie this project was launched without any proper study and because of the delay in construction, EXIM Bank of China delayed releasing funds approved for it. As a consequence, it had to be completed with a loss of Rs. 5,475. It was pointed out that recovering the expenditure incurred for the tower as to in what manner this large sum of money could be earned.
