Still not revealed whether Easter attack is the work of IS -- Senior deputy inspector general of police, Ravi Seneviratna

Senior deputy inspector general of police, Mr. Ravi Seneviratna exclaimed yesterday (24) that it still has not been confirmed that Easter Sunday suicide bombing was an act carried out by IS organisation and that what was reported by criminal investigation department about Mohommed Zaharan who is alleged to be behind it was first reported on January 26th, 2019 and that the criminal investigation department had immediately communicated it in writing about it to inspector general of police. This information was revealed by him when giving evidence in connection with the Easter attack and in
the presence of parliament special select committee probing into the Easter attack. The deputy inspector general of police further said that criminal investigation department had undertaken inquiries into the incident of damaging Mawanella Buddha statue in the month of December, 2018 and that as a result of it, a large quantity of explosives were found in a coconut estate in Wanathwilla, Puttalam and that on further investigations information about Zaharan had come to light on 26th January. 

Senior deputy inspector general of police who gave further evidence in the presence of the select committee under chairman, deputy speaker Mr. Ananda Kumarasiri which assembled at parliament committee hall last evening (24) said that criminal investigation department not taking a process of action without focusing attention in connection with information received from intelligence sources from India with Zaharan's name being mentioned that an attack is to be launched on April 21st is being inquired into. Since witness stated that information related to that inquiry cannot be mentioned in the presence of media, media correspondents present in the committee hall were moved away from there. He also said that so far no information has been received that ISIS organisation has a direct hand in the 21st attack. It was mentioned further that he is not satisfied with information received from  overseas about this attack.
