Nuwan Kulasekera departs without appearing in any match!

Fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekera who rendered a wonderful service to Sri Lankan cricket held a media briefing this afternoon (24) and announced that he would be leaving his cricketing career. He has had to make his exit in this manner for the reason that the cricket institution has rejected granting him an opportunity for him to resign after a match.Though minister Harin yesterday exclaimed that the third one-day game with Bangladesh would be Nuwan's final match, the selection committee
headed by Asantha de Mel has refused to give him that opportunity.

What Nuwan addressing the media said was that he holds no bad feelings about it. A media correspondent posed him the question whether he is not fit enough to play a match and what Nuwan said was that he played cricket continuously in Australia in recent times and that if somebody is to say that having engaged in the game till last April, he is not fit ... then it is a problematic issue.

Nuwan Kulasekera who won one-day colors in the year 2003 entered the Test arena in the year 2005. Kulasekera has participated in 184 international one-dayers, 21 Tests and 58 twenty 20 games. 199 one-day wickets, 48 Test wickets and 66 Twenty-20 wickets stand against his name. It was in 2009 that he came to the forefront as the number one fast bowler in the one-day grading scale.

The selection committee has not provided an opportunity for Kulasekera to participate in any international match since July 2017. Though he had decided to take leave of international cricket at the end of the world cup cricket tournament, Nuwan Kulasekera has said that because of a statement made by Lasith Malinga, he had delayed that decision a little in anticipation of a game and had even made a written request in that regard. He finally said that after his matter directed in writing to Sri Lanka Cricket ... he would be making his exit.
