Nugegoda businessman murder ... a contract
Two persons who were to get into a Land Cruiser type jeep at Jambugasmulla Mawatha, Nugegoda in Kohuwala police division yesterday (28) around 1.10 in the morning hours were shot at by two unknown gunmen and the two injured persons travelling in the jeep were admitted to Kalubowila hospital after which one of the casualties had passed away.
The deceased is one Ranawaka Susil Ruwan Perera aged 38 years hailing from No. 195/10, Madiwela
Road, Udahamulla and is the owner of a hotel. The other injured person is a bus-owner businessman of 40 years known as Adhikaram Mudiyanselage Indika Roshan resident at Thalapathpitiya, Kanatta Road.

A friend of both of them employed in Italy was living in Jambugasmulla Mawatha and had come here to spend a short holiday and both the above-mentioned businessmen had attended a party thrown by him last night in his home. After the party in dawn at about 1.10 the two businessmen had got into the vehicle and businessman Ruwan Perera was in the process of reversing the vehicle at which moment two persons who had been in ambush near the gate and one of them had fired incessantly and fled the scene.
While both of them who were inside the vehicle has sustained gunshots and subsequently some of those who attended the party have rushed both of them to Kalubowila hospital. Ruwan Perera had already passed away then while the other businessman Indika Roshan was admitted to Colombo national hospital for further treatment, police say. Police suspect that the firing has taken place on a contract basis as a result of a business conflict. Police also say that a 9 mm type pistol has been used in the shooting.
After the shooting, scenes of two persons fleeing on a motor-cycle are recorded on CCTV camera. In the meantime, the motor-cycle concerned was found abandoned in Delkanda area and it was minus the number-plate. Further investigations are underway.
