60 lakhs missing from Rauf Hakeem's house ...
Kurunduwatta police say that they have received a complaint yesterday (28) in connection with a robbery of Rs. 60 lakhs of cash from his house situated down Malalasekera Mawatha, Colombo 7 of former minister Mr. Rauf Hakeem's house.

Hakeem has acquired a sum of 60 lakhs for a motor vehicle which was expected to be sold and this money was handed over to her. It was mentioned in the complaint that the said sum of money was deposited inside a bag under the bed in the bedroom and nine days later ... that is on 29th when the bag was opened and inspected, it was observed that there was no cash inside and that the bag was tampered with, police say. The complaint further states that inquiries were made about it from the three female servants on duty in the house.

As the gulley-pit of the toilet of the house has over-spilt last 25th and when cleaning the gulley-pit two torn Rs. 5000 cash notes were found and the persons who came to attend to the cleaning process of the gulley-pit had taken it with them. It is mentioned in the complaint that three days subsequently the gulley-pit had over-spilt, a gulley bowser was brought down from the Colombo municipality and during the cleaning process some pieces of Rs. 5000 cash notes were discovered. The complaint made by her further states that two of the female servants of the three had left the house.
