9 Muslim ministers to resign in unison
It has been announced at the media briefing held at Temple Trees this afternoon (3) that all Muslim ministers who had been holding ministerial portfolios would be resigning from them. Rauf Hakeem informed that 9 Muslim ministers holding positions of cabinet minister, state minister and deputy minister would be relinquishing their posts. It was further mentioned that they entertain no ideas of destabilising the government and though leaving their positions they would be

The list of 9 ministers who resigned in this manner are as follows:
Faizal Cassim -- State minister of health, nutrition and indigenous medicine
Rauf Hakeem -- Minister for urban development, water supply and higher education
Abdul Haleem -- Minister for postal services and Muslim religious affairs
Kabir Hasheem -- Minister for highways, road development and petrol resources development
Abdul Mahroof -- Deputy minister for ports and shipping affairs
H.M.M. Harees -- State minister for local government and provincial council
Rishad Bathiudeen -- Minister for industry and commerce, resettlement of protracted displaced persons, co-operative development and vocational training and skills development
Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana -- State minister for social progress
Ameer Ali Sihabdeen -- State minister for agriculture, irrigation and rural economic affairs
