Army commander who participated in 'Ifthar' religious services

Army lieutenant general Mahesh Senanayaka together with other officers of various ranks joined in the 'Ifthar' religious customs performed after the daily Ramadhan fast with the purposes of promoting friendship and religious co-operation. The said event was held on Friday 31st afternoon at 'Laya Beach' hotel. 

Army officers, members of their families and a large number of other officers of various ranks
participated in the event after co-ordination of Sri Lanka army Muslim religious association and this programme was launched by the army during the past years. Subsequent to going through the 'Ifthar' religious customs the army commander, army chief of staff major general Shavendra Silva and director general training as well as president of the Muslim association, T.S. Bansajaya participated in lunch and thus followed the traditions thereby. 

After adhering to all such procedures, moulavis who followed the religious 'Ifthar' customs were awarded souvenirs. Chief of the special task force, Mr. Latheef and several Malay army personnel holding high ranks too were present on this occasion.
