The curfew period of 4.45 in Chilaw which was supposed to end at 6 in the morning   on 13th Monday has been revised. It is reported that a crowd who approached a Muslim textile shop in at 1.45 in the afternoon in an aggressive manner while another section has attacked a house in Wattakkuliya area in Chilaw which house was used as the Chilaw Sri Lanka Thawheed Jamad organisation office and prayer centre, it is reported. It was reported that parapet walls of that house were pushed down and after entering the house had damaged
the glass windows, it was reported. Sri Lanka Thawheed Jamad (SLT) is not Saharan's National Thawheed Jamad organisation (NTJ) which is supposed to have been prohibited recently by the government.

In order to disperse the agitated crowd in Chilaw town this Sunday the 12th morning, the army had to fire shots into the air and measures have been taken to extend the curfew till tomorrow morning. As reported, a person by the name of Hasmer Hameed supposed to be the owner of the Muslim business running a textile shop down Bazaar Street, Chilaw which shop is called Hasmars has left a post in his page in the facebook saying, "You'll can laugh and wait only today ... tomorrow you'll have to cry!"

In this connection a large number of comments of antagonism were published after which because of the unpleasant responses, an uproar of temper has surfaced, agitating the public. Later on, the said crowd has got together and assembled near Chilaw police headquarters demanding that action be taken over the post in the facebook. However, youth in the crowd who lost their temper that police is not taking proper action have gathered together and on reaching Chilaw town had gone in search of Hasmar Hameed's textile shop and had behaved in a hostile manner, it is said. It is also reported that the owner was beaten and a threatening atmosphere has pervaded Muslim shops around that location, it is reported.

The army then in such circumstances had to resort to fire into the skies and it is understood that all shops in the bazaar were closed as a result. With the young crowd, a Catholic priest too has joined hands with them in this protest. In the process, the textile shop belonging to Hasmar has suffered a loss. On the other hand, with police curfew in progress, the city was desolated. Injured Hasmer Hameed has been taken into police custody and is under treatment at hospital under such conditions. Because of a perturbed situation that flared up in the middle of Chilaw town at 12.50 in the afternoon a short while ago between two factions, police curfew is to be enforced to be effective till 6 in the morning tomorrow (13) to cover Chilaw town limits.
