Husband kills wife for having sexual relationships ... with medical professor

A nurse attached to a leading private hospital in Colombo has had an illicit connection with a professor engaged in the channeling service there and her husband has stabbed her over that issue. This incident was reported from Ragama. 

The police were informed of this incident after the suspect surrendered to Ragama Police Station on 23rd evening and on that occasion he was taken into custody. It was reported that the suspect was an
officer of an executive grade in a private insurance company.

It is a mother named Lelwala Gamage Chandrika Wasanthi (35) who was murdered and she was a mother of two children living down Gammulla Road belonging to Ragama Police Division. This nurse who was attached to a prominent hospital in Colombo in the private service at the hospital has for some time been involved in an illicit relationship with a professor there. The suspect husband has adviseed had come to know about this and has on a number of occasions advised the wife about this. However throwing his words to the winds she has continued the connection on the sly, saying that she had ended the affair. 

In the meantime the husband had been notified through a clue over the phone that his wife is spending her time with the said professor at a guest house. However, according to the distance he was in at that moment, he was unable to catch his wife red-handed. 

Whatever it is, after this phone message the husband has realised that upto then his wife has misled him and having gone into a rage had questioned his wife about it when she returned home that evening. At that moment an argument has flared up between the two and it has reached as far as a conflict after which this murder has taken place. It was after that he has surrendered to police.

Two stab wounds were observed on the body of the deceased. She was killed by the road close to their home and the husband has proceeded to the police station from there. It was notified to police 119 emergency unit of Ragama Police that a lady is found fallen at a location with blood pouring from her body down Ganemulla Road after which officers of Ragama Police Crime Uni had promptly arrived at the scene and the bleeding victim was taken to Ragama Teaching Hospital. The doctors who checked her have informed that she had passed away. The husband taken into custody is to be produced before court.
