Female pet dog sexually abused ... and killed!

An unfortunate incident is reported yesterday of a case where an act of sexual abuse was committed on a female pet dog in Balangoda as a result of which the bitch has died! The person who who is suspected of this is fifty years old and has been taken into police custody. 

The said bitch is being reared in a home adjoining the suspect's home and on 13th night the dog has been taken to the suspect's home and he has indulged in a sexual act in which instance the lady owner
of the house where the dog is reared has heard the dog making a sound in pain. 

Subsequently the owner's son had gone to the suspect's house and was able to see the suspect in an immodest pose in which instance he has pushed aside the suspect and taken the dog home with the idea of taking it to a veterinary surgeon. However, the dog had already breathed its last by then. 

Owner of the dead dog living in Massana, Balangoda, Mrs. P.M. Sujeewa has this to say: "This bitch is about three or four months ... black in colour. Everyone at home loves this dog. Day before yesterday night (13) a neighbour came and said that he saw a certain person creating a 'problem' to the dog. As such, the man was beaten and the dog was brought home. 

The dog bit the hand of my son who went to save it. Whatever it is, the dog which came bleeding, ultimately died a short while later. So we informed 119 police emergency about this". 

Post mortem in this case was expected to be performed by Balangoda Veterinary office. No lawyer appeared on behalf of the suspect. After being produced before Balangoda Magistrate Court yesterday (14), this 50 year old person was remanded. The magistrate ordered that the suspect be directed to a psychiatrist and to produce a report in that connection at the next date of hearing.
