Kalubowila judicial medical officer arrested ... for sexually molesting young woman!

Nugegoda chief magistrate, Mr. Wasantha Kumara ordered that the judicial medical officer of Kalubowila hospital who allegedly committed a sexual offence on a young woman who was taken to Kalubowila hospital for a medical examination be released on personal bail of Rs. one lakh.

It was revealed that the aforesaid young female had admitted herself for treatment to Jayawardenapura hospital because of a beating she had received by her husband and later had been
forwarded to the judicial medical officer of Kalubowila hospital for a medical examination.

In the instance that a nurse of Jayawardenepura hospital and the victim's mother had gone to Kalubowila hospital and she was forwarded to the previously mentioned judicial medical officer the medical officer concerned has not allowed the young woman's mother and the nurse to go inside the examination room and on the pretence of carrying out an examination had played with her body and committed a sexual offence, it was revealed.

Later she had reported this incident to the guard post of Jayawardenepura hospital as well as Kohuwala police station. The police has directed this complaint to court and on court order, legal advice had been sought, it was reported. As this incident is an offence which warrants punishment under the penal code, according to the attorney general's advice the latter had said that a court case should be filed and Kohuwala police has produced the suspect doctor to court.
