Asian Cricket commences ... bringing Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans face to face once again

The Asian Cup one-day Cricket tournament commences today 15th ... launching the opening match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 in the afternoon.

Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India would be participating in this tournament and all matches will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi playgrounds from today the 15th to 28th. After bitter memories of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh playing against each other today on the

very first day of of the tournament is something special. On the other hand Lasith Malinga is expected to join the team today for this one-dayer. Dilruwan Perera too would be getting a chance to play in today's match.

It is after 23 years that Bangladesh team is competing in a tournament in United Arab Emirates. So far, Sri Lanka has participated in 48 one-day games and defeated in 16 matches while Bangladesh on the other hand has played 42 matches and managed to clinch victories in 16 matches out of 31 games while Bangladesh on the other hand played 42 matches and gained victories in only 7 matches and defeated in 35 matches.

Thus Bangladesh ranks in position 8 in the grading-scale of one-day matches while by now they have crept up the ladder onto the 7th rank. Shown below is the time-table of the tournament
