Sri Lanka faces embarrassing defeat ...
Sri Lanka was committed to severe defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh commencing the inaugural Asia Cup one-day Cricket tournament played in Dubai.
Bangladesh who won the toss elected to bat first and amassed a total of 261 to which Sri Lanka replied with only a paltry 124 runs. It incidentally was only Malinga who displayed some notable
performance in the game after finding a place in the team after a lapse of one year.
Though Bangladesh was left hopeless in his first over, dropping catches and providing an opportunity for other batsmen to boost their innings actually paved the way for the Bangladeshis to develop their total upto 261 without an obstacle. Mushfikar Raheem scoring 144 in this innings was of course conspicuous in this game.
Lasith Malinga the fast bowling exponent bagged 4 scalps for just 23 runs and confirmed that without his presence Sri Lanka has no future to tread on. Whatever it is, Sri Lanka who played the 2nd innings were left hopeless with wickets crumbling at regular intervals and thus no batsman was able to get anywhere beyond 30 as such.
