Proposal by Nimal refusing three-wheelers for those under 35 ... finally rejected by Maithri
The proposal forwarded by Transport and Civil Aviation minister Nimal Siripala de Silva yesterday (21) to the cabinet that no permission is given for persons under 35 to drive three-wheelers was finally rejected by President Maithripala Sirisena. At that point what he said was that a crisis is bound to take place in the country if such a law was enforced.
This proposal was forwarded for approval of he cabinet by minister Nimal Siripala de Silva with the
intention of barring persons under 35 years to drive three-wheelers. Minister of Finance Mr. Mangala Samaraweera and some other ministers have opposed the proposal. The President who expressed his ideas in this connection said that before proposals such as this being forwarded for approval by the cabinet, greater attention should be focused on the common man of this country.
