Missing 9 year old child's body found inside jungle

The body of a 9 year old boy who was missing from his home in Kathapuram in Vavuniya was found by police yesterday from a shrubby forest.

This child and his 3 year old brother had been in the house day-before-yesterday morning and the mother and the stepfather having got ready to go to work had left the small child at a neighbour's

house, it is reported. However when the mother and stepfather had returned home around six in the evening, only the 9 year old child had been in the house and as the other child was not to be seen they had told the neighbours about it and had searched for this child.

The following day, that is yesterday when a group of villagers had gone to look for goats had noticed the dead body of the missing child inside a shrubby forest area and had informed the police. The dead body has been handed over to Vavuniya general hospital for examination. Police are conducting further inquiries in this connection.
