Sri Lankan Muslims in England protest over Kandy incident
The Sri Lankan Muslim community resident in Liecester in England have launched a protest in that country yesterday (8) against incidents which have taken place in Kandy.
A crowd of 100 persons who gathered at Humberstone Gate during interval time in the afternoon have chanted and carried placards
saying "We need peace. Businesses of our people have been set on fire. The government should look into this matter ... we all are of the same blood!" It was reported that in their hands were the Sri Lankan national flag. The president of Sri Lanka Muslim Association who represents 400 Muslim families who have Sri Lankan connections there, Mohammed Ismail, Lester Marcari had told the website that this Muslim - Sinhala issue has lifted its head only from about 6 years back and that because it is necessary to settle these things in a peaceful manner, this protest was geared since it is a topical issue.
