A provincial council member in the South by the name of M.K. Kasun was connected to an incident where he had threatened a certain driver of a private bus in Koswatta area in Talangama and for having assaulted him.
It was revealed yesterday at the court hearing that he has had no valid license for the year
2018 for the pistol. It had been taken for the year 2016 - 2017 and the license has by now expired and at the moment of the illegitimate use of it he had not acquired the license concerned.
A case is being heard of yet another incident against Kasun where he had assaulted and threatened a person in Beliatta apart from a bus driver of the177 route and it is presently being heard in Tangalla court.
On the occasion the said recent incident took place, points were raised to the effect that the firearm belonging to the provincial council member cannot be taken possession of by another. During the referred to incident, CCTV footage as well as a video tape of a pedestrian too was forwarded to courts. The MP, Kasun has stated that when he was on his way to a garment factory in Koswatta he had got trapped in a traffic congestion and on that occasion he had parked the vehicle near a bus-halt after which he got involved in a dispute involving that driver. As the driver had come there and had got unnecessarily involved in an exchange of words, his wife Madhubhashini Perera who was a mother of 3 children lost her temper, he said. The magistrate who said that as a result of not having a valid license and for using a firearm he was refused to be given bail and to remand him till next 27th.
