The office situated in Nattharampotha, Kundasale, Kandy of Vidanapathiranage Amith Jeevan Weerasingha supposed to be the leader of Mahason balakaaya and this suspect who has already been taken into custody over the Kandy incident was subjected to inspection yesterday (13) by the police. On that occasion 7 petrol bombs, some pamphlets, posters ready for distribution, banners and a number of other items to be utilised for instigating revenge
and violence were discovered in the process. In addition, a microphone, several bank books, receipts of cash, driving licenses, computer machines and some gloves which carried statements that promoted revenge too were recovered. Other than Amith, private names of the rest of the 9 suspects taken into custody in this connection and where they were living were revealed by police media spokesman yesterday. Among them was a monk too. Details of those suspects are as follows:

  • Nasnaran pattige Suraweera  (Kimbulgoda, Yakkala)
  • Sampath Anura Shri Kumarasingha (Wewala Wewa, Dambulla)
  • Aarachchi Kumbure Sobhitha thero (Kumbitikuliya, Bangadeniya)
  • Asiri Chathranga (Kurunduwattha, Chilaw)
  • Isuru Priyankara Kumara (Rajawella)
  • Sumith Chaminda (Handagiriya, Balangoda)
  • Asanka Pradeep Weerasingha (Kengolla)
  • Jayanath Anton Guneratna (Madurthalawa, Peradeniya) and Rashmitha Bandara Mahawaththa (Colombo Road, Chilaw)

These suspects have been by now brought to Colombo from Kandy and are being interrogated at the Terrorist Investigation Division. The Police Media Spokesman said that calls received by phones belonging to them during the period concerned and calls saved on the phone by them are being inspected by officers who are specialized in the field of telecommunication network.
