A 16 year old schoolboy who is alleged to has proclaimed information across a social media network page with the motive that peace among races be destroyed at a time emergency had been declared has been taken into custody and ordered to be detained at Makola Child Rehabilitation Centre till 22nd by Colombo Chief Magistrate, Mr. L.R.

Bandara.

It has been revealed that he had maintained a Facebook page as 'Sinhale api' with the intention of crushing peace among races by basing it on incidents in Teldeniya area and had broadcast this false propaganda across a Whatsapp group of 256 members. The schoolboy concerned was a resident of Homagama had mentioned that he has with the idea of creating a racial clash such as this in Maharagama area had motivated this group of members; the CID forwarded this information to courts. Accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department reported to courts that this suspect has committed a flaw under clause 06 of computer crimes of no. 24 of 2007 as stated in Sri Lanka Penal Code 138.

Under the above circumstances, courts ordered that the suspect be detained till 22nd at Makola Child Detention Camp. After the case relevant to this incident was scrapped from courts, the suspect schoolboy was directed to the detention camp at Makola when the student's mother, father and kith and kin broke down in tears, the courts correspondent says.
