Death of Galle student who shot himself for girl friend having fallen in love with another -- a case of emulating film stars!

A student of grade 11 at Mahinda College, Galle some days back has shot himself in the night with a licensed shotgun and had committed suicide and this particular incident was a case of imitating the incident of an actor who took his life sometime ago -- a dialogue has surfaced by now.

The final letter he has left behind says that he had suffered a lot and not to regard that this was something

done because of the girl and that it is not related to this. Although it was earlier circulated that this incident took place because the parents coerced him to engage in studies for his O/L, what was revealed from what his close friends was that he has had a love affair and that another girl of schoolgoing age has deserted him and had started another affair which resulted in disappointment, ending up in this manner.

This student concerned around 8.10 in the night has leant on a tree behind the house and had shot himself with a 12-bore type weapon and thus committed suicide ... leaving his parents and colleagues in utter despair.

It was revealed at sociological surveys that dying in a sensational fashion for the others who created a personal shock to him to feel it could turn out to be one of those trends and these activities of such popular people could persist for some time until its heat fades away when events imitating such acts could occur.
