Younger son who threw ailing mother out of house ... involved in brawl to bring her dead body home!
An incident of a son who did not care to provide any help to his own mother at the time she was among the living and ailing too had with the motive of claiming the compensation granted by his establishment was at dagger's end with his sister and created a conflict which is reported from Galgamuwa Police.
The deceased mother is someone who had been living in Maha Embogama in Galgamuwa from the time of her birth, having 5 children. She had
passed away last 29th June while under treatment for an infection of the skin. Whatever it is, before her death she had been living at her younger son's home. During this time this younger son's wife had complained saying that this lady being in the house was a terrible worry because of her sick condition and had resorted to a reproachful and insulting manner on most instances. On one occasion because of this mother had defecated on her bed the younger son's wife had in the presence of her husband virtually 'thrown' the mother out of the house.
In any case since the mother was not in a position to stay in this home anymore she had come to her daughter's house at Neththipalagama in Mahawa all alone in a three-wheeler. Even by that time since her sick condition had aggravated, the daughter had given her a bath and proceeded to have her treated by a private doctor and from then onwards till the time of her demise had been looked after by this daughter even in the midst of hardships. However, on the contrary neither this lady's younger son nor the other sons have cared to inquire about their mother's condition and have not visited the mother either at any time.
The younger son and other children who took no interest in their mother or visited her on any day whatsoever had made a visit after the lady's death to this daughter's house and had told that they had come to remove their mother's dead body to their house at Embogama area. But the daughter who looked after and cared for the lady had opposed them on which occasion an exchange of words had taken place between the two parties. Subsequently the younger son who left the place had the following day early morning returned with his wife and children and protested saying that it is not possible to bury the deceased at an extraneous place and had tried to remove the dead body away.
As a result of this situation a day after the old lady's final rites were performed a conflict had once again flared up between the two said parties and it had extended upto a brawl. Because of this conflict a friend of the deceased's daughter had been assaulted where she had to be admitted to hospital. After the said instance what was revealed was that the younger son concerned wanted to remove the mother's dead body to his home with the motive of securing the Rs. two and a half lakhs granted by the service station being maintained by him and which was granted on behalf of this lady's bereavement.
