A son was born to them and when the child was about 3 years there had been clashes between Prasadika and her husband. She had subsequently left her husband and returned home leaving the child in the custody of the husband.
Later she she had embarked on a free life associating other lovers and in the process had tried to search for her first love who incidentally was a class-mate of hers during schooldays. It was by him that she was stabbed.
About an year ago she is supposed to have got across to him through social media and the phone, thus giving life to her old flame. At that time she was stationed in Mathugama while the former lover was employed at a cushion workshop in Nawinna, Maharagama. As such they have had a problem in meeting each other. What she had told was, "I always need you ... find a way of meeting often". Accordingly the young man had found a job for her at a beauty salon in Gam Sabha Junction, Nugegoda as an assistant there, making her get boarded somewhere close to Delkanda close to her workplace.
As the two of them had been associating each other with the motive of getting married, he had sensed some change in her behaviour after some months. He had further noticed that on certain occasions her phone was engaged for hours on end on suspicious calls and realised a situation where she was trying to avoid him by uttering lies which got caught red-handed. In the meantime at a recent time she had without informing him made all arrangements to switch over to some other salon in Homagama area and was planning to go to work there. She had thus been strategic enough to conceal everything from her lover.
After getting to know these matters in a roundabout process, when inquiries were made he had come to know that the deceased had been associating another lover in the recent past. He had then one day questioned her about this and though she covered up the story at first she subsequently admitted everything. He had then told her to come to Wijerama Junction day-before-yesterday evening after work was over saying that he wishes to question her further. So saying he had made her get on to his motor bike and travelling down Old Kesbewa Road had stopped near the lonely ground where lovers used to frequent and had subsequently begun to engage in a verbal battle.
Some members in the neighbourhood have noticed the couple coming there at about 7.30 that night and talking to each other. After the exchange of words the situation twisted into a rage of temper where he had pulled out a knife which he had brought with him and had started stabbing her neck region, around 8 in the night. It was revealed at police investigations that he had aimed 12 thrusts to the front of her neck in addition to her thighs and buttocks as well. Because of the attempt taken to avoid the stabbing assaults, her fingers too were found injured in the process.
After the murder committed by him the lover had surrendered to Kohuwala Police, bringing the knife along with him. Police investigations were carried out on the dead body and the police who took the lover into custody and is supposed to produce him before courts.
