Post of Ambassador to someone who has not even passed O/L
Representatives being appointed to overseas Ambassador positions representing Sri Lanka based on political connections of the incumbent government is taking place on a big scale.
This situation has come into severe criticism among a set of Attorneys-at-Law who backed up the Yahapalanaya and criticised the former regime for having granted political
appointments and for inviting several Ambassadors once again and giving them appointments for those seats in this manner. Influences from higher-ups have influenced a person who has not even got through his Ordinary Level Exam for an Ambassador position in a few more days time. A strong hulabaloo has cropped up because if a person of this type is appointed to such a post, Sri Lanka would be demeaned in foreign nations.
This group of Lawyers who point out that when appointing people to high positions, giving priority to the partiality they had extended in a political way or in considering their political helplessness without taking into account their educational qualifications or their experiences would only pave the way for the diplomatic service to deteriorate and as a consequence these Lawyers are contemplating taking legal action in this respect.
