Retired Major General accepts guilt and makes up
The incident where retired Major General Kamal Guneratna had approached a student of Colombo D.S. Senanayaka College at a time when the student had been relaxing after finishing the examination and had also threatened him was brought to an amicable settlement by both parties confronting each other at the police station.
Last 14th the said student had finished his examination and had come out of the exam hall when the retired Major General appearing on behalf of a related son of his had come upon the student
concerned and had thrown his influence around after which the boy had lodged a complaint to this effect on the 17th to Cinnamon Gardens Police once his examination was over. As the incident was circulated among the media before that, what the retired Major General told the media was that it was a false story and that he had not even assaulted anyone even during his service with the Army and that this story was a woven-up story which was done at a time when he had been overseas.

Whatever it is, a testimony was called for by summoning the retired Major General in respect of the complaint and both he and the complainant party were asked to appear at the police last 21st. Accordingly, in the presence of the student who was there accompanied by the mother the retired Major General had admitted that he had been present on that day at the school. (He had in fact been overseas and returned to Sri Lanka on the 12th. The referred to incident had actually taken place on the 14th). He further revealed that he so arrived at the request of his sister. Whatever it is, the retired Major General has asked not to entertain grievous feelings about his action and had patched up with the student. Finally, steps were taken to withdraw the complaint so that the issue would not go any further.
